Head to the Spencerport Depot & Canal Museum, housed in a beautifully restored 1900s trolley station. Inside, you’ll find interactive exhibits on the Erie Canal, the history of local communication, and more. Afterward, enjoy a walk, ride, or paddle along the Erie Canalway Trail, which runs through the village and offers scenic views throughout the year. Explore philoSophie’s Stationery & Gifts and The Unique Shop in the village, or drive north to immerse yourself in The Estate Marketplace on West Ridge Road.
Lunch
Head to Texas Bar-B-Q Joint for slow-smoked meats, hearty sides, and tangy sauces in a casual, no-frills setting. Do you prefer to dine canal-side? McColley’s offers creative burgers, fresh salads, and seasonal specials with a local twist. Clutch on the Canal serves tacos, burgers, and loaded fries in a lively atmosphere with great patio seating. If the weather’s nice, grab takeout and enjoy a picnic at Towpath Park by the lift bridge or Pineway Ponds Park, which features a playground and splash pad.
Afternoon
Check out Eric’s Retro Arcade for nostalgic fun with vintage video games, pinball machines, and a playful throwback vibe. Just around the corner, Splatters Studio offers a relaxing and creative outlet where you can paint pottery and create your own colorful masterpiece—no experience necessary.
Drive to Northampton Park to spend the afternoon outdoors, where you’ll find a playground, hiking trails, a model airplane flying field, and wide-open spaces. While you’re there, visit Springdale Farm, a public demonstration farm that’s both educational and fun. Interact with the animals and wander the walking trails—it’s a family favorite, especially during seasonal events and programs.
Alternatively, just five minutes east of Spencerport, Homesteads for Hope in Ogden offers an unforgettable day trip along the Erie Canal, where nature, community, and connection come together. This 55-acre inclusive community farm features scenic canal-side trails, a seasonal farm store and café offering fresh produce and local goods, as well as weekly events, such as “Thursdays at the Farm.” Homesteads for Hope is a welcoming retreat for all ages and abilities.
Dinner
Craving Italian? Grandpa Sam’s Italian Kitchen serves hearty pasta, chicken parm, and homemade sauces in a cozy setting. Just outside the village, Mangia Mangia offers Italian-American favorites like subs, salads, and pasta—perfect for a casual, flavorful meal.
