Just south of Watkins Glen, Havana Glen Park in Montour Falls offers a quieter, more intimate gorge experience than its well-known neighbor. This town-owned park and campground combines picnic grounds and open recreation space with a short, scenic hike leading to one of the region’s hidden waterfalls. The highlight is Eagle Cliff Falls—a striking cascade tucked into a narrow gorge of mossy rock walls, where water, stone, and light create a dramatic natural setting.
Why Visit

Havana Glen Park delivers the beauty of the Finger Lakes gorges without the crowds often found at nearby parks. A short walk leads through a cool, shaded ravine to Eagle Cliff Falls, where water spills over a tall rock face into a natural basin below.
Because the hike is brief yet memorable, the park appeals to a wide range of visitors—from photographers and waterfall seekers to families looking for an accessible outdoor adventure. The surrounding campground, open fields, and picnic areas also make it a pleasant place to linger beyond the trail.

What to Do

Hike to Eagle Cliff Falls
The park’s main attraction is a roughly quarter-mile trail leading to the 40-foot Eagle Cliff Falls. The route follows a shallow creek bed beneath towering gorge walls, then climbs a metal staircase attached to the cliffside.

Explore the gorge floor
Many visitors enjoy carefully walking in the creek bed just below the falls, especially during low water levels. The moss-covered rocks and towering walls make this short stretch feel surprisingly wild.

Photograph the falls
The natural amphitheater at the base of Eagle Cliff Falls creates beautiful lighting conditions, especially when sunlight filters through the gorge and catches the mist rising from the cascade.

Enjoy the park grounds
Beyond the gorge trail, Havana Glen includes picnic areas, ball fields, and a campground—making it easy to turn a quick waterfall stop into a longer outdoor visit.

Insider Tip

Bring water shoes if you plan to wade in the creek or explore the gorge floor. The stones can be slippery, and proper footing makes the experience far more enjoyable.
