Morning
The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum preserves and interprets the life and work of aviation pioneer Glenn H. Curtiss. Curtiss is credited with several aviation firsts in the early 1900s, including the first publicly announced flight in America and the development of the first seaplane. Try to catch the seaplane show at the museum’s annual September Wings & Wheels event. The museum’s 60,000-square-foot facility houses an extensive collection of early aviation artifacts, vintage motorcycles, automobiles, aircraft engines, and more. Families may enjoy the museum’s self-guided scavenger hunt.
Enjoy a quiet moment or a swim at Depot Park or Champlin Beach on either side of the Keuka Inlet. Keuka Watersports and OnKeuka! offer a variety of ways to get on the water. Book a Pat II boat ride with the Finger Lakes Boating Museum for a narrated tour of Keuka Lake. From June to mid-October, one-hour public tours depart from Depot Park in the morning. The vessel features bench seating and accommodates up to 16 passengers.

Sit down to a casual lunch at Burgers & Beer of Hammondsport, Village Tavern Restaurant & Inn, Aroma Coffee Art Gallery, or Timber Stone Grill. Or head up NY-54 to The Switzerland Inn (locally known as The Switz), which overlooks the east side of Keuka Lake. You can also stop by Hammondsport Grocery to assemble the fixings for a picnic at Depot Park.
Afternoon
The Finger Lakes Boating Museum explores Hammondsport’s steamboat era and regional boatbuilding history through a collection of nearly 200 boats, with about 40 on display. The museum also operates the restored 1924 wooden launch Pat II for narrated cruises on Keuka Lake.
Afterward, visit some of the area’s wineries, breweries, and distilleries. Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery helped establish vinifera grape growing in the Finger Lakes and remains one of the region’s most influential wineries. Other nearby options include Weis Vineyards, Living Roots Winery, Heron Hill Winery, Ravines Wine Cellars, Domaine Leseurre Winery, Keuka Lake Vineyards, and Bully Hill Vineyards. Stop by Maloney’s Pub for a drink, then walk to The Park Inn for a savory meal. Or head north on West Lake Road/NY-54A to Snug Harbor or Lakeside Louie’s for outdoor dining with views of Keuka Lake.
Evening
Take a stroll from the square to Depot Park to watch the sunset over Keuka Lake, stopping first at Crooked Lake Ice Cream. Along Shethar Street, you’ll pass the Historic Champlin House, now a bed-and-breakfast in the former home of Charles D. Champlin, a founding member of Pleasant Valley Winery. Alternatively, if you’re heading out of town, stop at Keuka Creamery for ice cream. You’ll also find a car wash and a dog wash on site to freshen up after a day outdoors with your pup. You can also plan your visit around a weekend concert or the Thursday evening farmers market at Point of the Bluff Vineyards.

Signature Events
The Wine Country Classic Boat Show & Regatta, held in late July, showcases vintage and classic boats on Keuka Lake. Visitors can enjoy a judged boat show, a boat parade, and a Poker Run Regatta.
The Hammondsport Festival of Crafts in mid-August showcases the work of local artisans in the village. Sponsored by the Hammondsport Chamber of Commerce, the festival offers free parking at the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum with shuttle service to the Village Square.
Wings & Wheels in Hammondsport in late September celebrates aviation and automotive history at Depot Park and the Village Square. The event features seaplane demonstrations, classic car shows, family activities, local food, and live entertainment.
