October is the official month for pumpkins and the pinnacle of fall in Upstate NY. Around Rochester, it’s so much more than simply buying a pumpkin.

It’s finding the perfect one from the field to carve your Halloween jack-o-lantern. It’s about family time on the farm, with wagon rides, hot cider & donuts, corn maizes, and games.

1. Stokoe Farms’ Pumpkin Patch & Harvest Fest

Weekends, September 14-October 27

Our farm offers 35+ unique and thrilling activities for the whole family. Come out and explore the 2019  Invenergy Solar corn maze and meet all of our friendly farm animals. Don’t forget to go out to the pumpkin patch for your own special pumpkin. Bring the whole family for a day in the great outdoors, there is fun for all ages! Make sure you grab a dozen of our famous Apple Cider Donuts and a gallon of cider.

2. Wickham Farms’ Fall Harvest Festival

September 28 – October 31

Our new one-price Barnyard Admission includes unlimited single day access to our jumping pillow, jumping pad (for the little ones), train rides, two corn mazes, mini golf, rubber duck races, a corn pit, combine slide, playgrounds, hayrides (weekends only), and so much more!

In August 2019, they moved to a larger area at 1315 Sweets Corners Rd. in Penfield, NY.

3. Long Acre Farms’ Fall Festival Weekends

September 14-October 27, weekends only

Long Acre Farms is the home of NY’s original Amazing Maize Maze and one of the longest running corn mazes in the world! For 21 years guests have been getting lost inside our 5-acre logic corn field. Don’t worry, we provide you with a gameboard and stalk talk help get you started and have staff inside the maze to provide clues when you’re feeling extra lost. The average completion time is 90 minutes. If you’re not feeling up to the challenge or have small children, consider our Animal Tracks Maze!

Our Barnbuster ticket includes unlimited access at our Fall Festival Weekends! This includes access to our Amazing Maize Maze, Animal Tracks Maze, Back 40 Adventure, Wagon Rides and Cow Train Rides.

Courtyard area is always free, which includes several play activities, pumpkins, farm market, IC Shop & food concessions. Corn Cannon, pumpkins, donuts, cider, grill, fresh fudge & more!

4. The Garden Factory’s Fall Family Fun

Weekends in October

Our activities are kid-oriented, with rides, games, arts & crafts geared toward kids ages 2-10, yet fun for the whole family. With special animal visitors, carnival rides, food and more, there is sure to be something to please everyone. General admission is free, though there are paid-tickets for some of the activities.

5. New York Museum of Transportation’s Halloween Trolley Express

Fall Foliage by Trolley – Sundays, September 15 – October 27

Enjoy the beauty of autumn in western New York State from the window of an authentic 90-year-old electric trolley car. Trolleys operate throughout the day starting at 11:30 a.m., and no reservations are required.

Halloween Trolley Express – Saturday, October 19

All aboard this Halloween special! Children and their parents are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes and join us for a special day at the transportation museum. The trolley takes you to the Pumpkin Patch where you’ll decorate a free baby pumpkin and enjoy delicious cider and donuts. In the museum there’s unique trick-or-treating in Halloween-decorated trolley cars! Special hours and prices prevail; reservations are required.

6. Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum Pumpkin Patch Train Rides

Weekends, October 12-27

Enjoy a mile-and-a-half train ride through our rural museum grounds, located in the scenic heart of the Genesee Valley! Ride aboard authentically restored freight train cabooses to the Pumpkin Patch.

Every child will visit our Pumpkin Patch to choose a small baby pumpkin to take home to decorate. Complementary apple cider and cookies for everyone.

Fresh, hot, Duke’s Donuts will also be available for purchase. The Flower City Tinplate Trackers will have fun and exciting Lionel model railroads for you to enjoy. Enjoy our friendly petting zoo after your ride.

7. Powers Farm Market fall activities

In Fall, Powers is bustling! We continue to offer fresh baked goods, including seasonal pies and breads, cider, cider slushies, fried cakes, candied apples, and everything pumpkin!

Haunted hayrides and tours of the woods are available during the fall season.

8. Becker Farms Pumpkin Fiesta + Becker Mountain

Weekends, September 8 – October 27

Tickets include a pony ride for children 42″ tall and under, the jumping pillow, bounce house, goat races & sing along, a hayride though the forest, and the farm animal petting zoo. There’s also a playground with big slides, jungle gym, water tables, and big bales of hay to jump on.

The drive through the countryside offers a chance to do some Autumn leaf peeping. The Finger Lakes Region and areas along Lake Ontario are usually the last to peak because of the warm water temperatures. New York State offers a weekly Fall Foliage Report you can follow starting in mid-September.
